Researchers at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) have developed a prototype system that uses advanced imaging technology and a robotic cutting arm to automatically debone chicken and other poultry products.
The prototype Intelligent Cutting and Deboning System has a built-in 3D vision system which uses collected data and custom algorithms to help reduce bone fragments and increase yield on birds.
How long until we see the same technology designed for pork, lamb and beef products?
